Saxon are an English heavy metal band formed in 1977 in Barnsley. As one of the leading acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, they achieved major commercial success throughout the 1980s, placing eight albums in the U K Top 40, including four Top 10 releases and two that reached the Top 5. During this period, Saxon established themselves as one of Europe’s most influential and respected metal bands. Known for their relentless touring schedule and enduring appeal, the band have sold over 13 million albums worldwide and are widely regarded as one of the definitive classic heavy metal acts.
