Eluveitie is a Swiss folk metal band from Winterthur, Zürich, founded in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann. The project’s first EP, Vên, was released in 2003. Vên was a studio project of Glanzmann’s, but its success led to the recruitment of a full band. The band then released a full-length album, Spirit, in June 2006. More

The band was formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann and plays a mix of folk and metal music. They are known for their use of traditional Celtic instruments, such as the fiddle, mandolin, and tin whistle, as well as for their lyrics, which are sung in a modern Swiss-German dialect of Gaulish, an ancient Celtic language. Eluveitie has released nine studio albums, the most recent of which is “Ategnatos”, which was released in 2019. The band has a dedicated fan base and is known for their energetic live performances.The band’s founder, Chrigel Glanzmann, has been the only constant member.

2002: Chrigel Glanzmann forms the band and releases the demo “Vên” as a one-man project.
2003: The band expands to a full lineup and releases their first full-length album, “Spirit”.
2005: The band releases their second album, “Slania”, which becomes their breakthrough release.
2008: The band releases their third album, “Slania”, which features a new lineup and a more folk-influenced sound.
2010: The band releases their fourth album, “Everything Remains (As It Never Was)”.
2012: The band releases their fifth album, “Helvetios”, which features a new lineup and a return to a more metal-influenced sound.
2014: The band releases their sixth album, “Origins”, which features a new lineup and a more folk-influenced sound.
2016: The band releases their seventh album, “Evocation II: Pantheon”, a more metal-influenced sound.
2018: The band releases their eighth album, “Rebirth”, which features a new lineup and a more folk-influenced sound.
2019: The band releases their ninth album, “Ategnatos”, more metal-influenced sound.
How can we see, Eluveitie has had many changes over the years, alternating between folk and metal but always has always been led by Chrigel Glanzmann.

This lineup recorded and released Eluveitie’s first full-length album, “Spirit”, in 2003. It should be noted that the band started as a one-man project in 2002, with Chrigel Glanzmann writing and recording the demo “Vên” by himself. The band expanded to a full lineup in 2003 and released “Spirit” later that year.
The lead vocalist of Eluveitie Fabienne Erni joined the band in 2016 and made her debut on the album “Evocation II: Pantheon”. Prior to joining Eluveitie, Erni was the lead vocalist of the band Shining Fury and has also worked as a solo artist. In addition to her work with Eluveitie, Erni is also a trained classical singer and has performed with various classical ensembles and opera companies.
