“The Rune of Iron and Flame” is inspired by the Saga of Egil Skallagrímsson, one of the most iconic works of Old Norse literature. Egil was both a warrior and a poet, known for his fierce temper and mystical command of runes. This song channels his dual nature—half man, half myth—whose words carried both the power to curse and to heal. The “voice that rides through fire and rain” hints at his supernatural aura, while the “rune of endless fight” symbolizes his indomitable spirit and tragic destiny.
