The 1970s was a decade of great musical innovation and many iconic rock bands emerged during this time period. Some of the most notable groups from the 1970s include:

Led Zeppelin: Formed in 1968, Led Zeppelin is considered one of the most influential bands in the history of rock music. Sister is a band formed in Los Angeles, California in the late 1970s. Sister was a band that played a style of music that was heavily influenced by punk rock, hard rock and also had some glam rock influence. They released one EP named “Blackie Lawless and Sister” and a few singles, but never released a full-length album.

Blackie Lawless, was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the band. After Sister disbanded, Blackie went on to form the band W.A.S.P.

W.A.S.P.: (often stylized as W.A.S.P.) was formed in 1982 by vocalist Blackie Lawless. The band’s early sound was characterized by a combination of heavy metal, shock rock, and glam metal elements, and they are known for their controversial and theatrical live performances. The most successful album is 1984’s “The Last Command,” which reached number 92 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Some of the band’s most popular songs include “I Wanna Be Somebody,” “Blind in Texas,” and “Wild Child.” W.A.S.P. continues to tour and perform to this day, and have released multiple albums.

Saxon: is a British heavy metal band that was formed in 1977 in Barnsley, England. The band’s original lineup consisted of vocalist Biff Byford, guitarists Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver, bassist Steve Dawson, and drummer Pete Gill. Saxon’s sound is characterized by a combination of traditional heavy metal, hard rock, and NW on some power metal influences. They are considered one of the leaders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement along with bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Saxon’s most successful album is 1980’s “Wheels of Steel,” which reached number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. Some of the band’s most popular songs include “Motorcycle Man,” “Denim and Leather,” and “Princess of the Night.” Saxon continues to tour and perform to this day, and have released multiple albums.

Uriah Heep: is a British rock band that was formed in London in 1969. The band’s original lineup consisted of lead vocalist David Byron, guitarists Mick Box and Ken Hensley, bassist Gary Thain, and drummer Nigel Olsson. The band’s sound is characterized by a combination of hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock elements, and they are known for their use of keyboard instruments, particularly the Hammond organ and Mellotron. Uriah Heep’s most successful album is 1971’s “Look at Yourself,” which reached number 23 on the UK Albums Chart. Some of the band’s most popular songs include “Easy Livin’,” “Stealin’,” and “Lady in Black.” Uriah Heep continues to tour and perform to this day, and have released multiple albums.
