New Single and Video

Swedish metal outfit ELEINE unveil a stark and affecting new version of one of their defining songs with the release of All Shall Burn (Acoustic) and its official video. Issued in the lead-up to the band’s acoustic EP Acoustic In Hell, out October 14, 2022 via Atomic Fire Records, the single showcases the band’s command of dynamics and drama when the distortion is stripped away.

Known for a cinematic strain of symphonic and melodic metal, ELEINE recast All Shall Burn in a minimal, performance-centered form that spotlights songwriting, timbre and tension. The result is a leaner, colder flame, every note leaving room for breath, grit and meaning.

Reimagining a Signature Cut

Where the amplified version surges with serrated riffs and orchestral sweep, this acoustic take narrows the frame. Clean guitar figures sketch the harmonic spine, allowing shaded vocal interplay between Madeleine Liljestam and Rikard Ekberg to assume the foreground. Percussive elements sit low and deliberate, serving pulse rather than spectacle. The restraint is purposeful: it sharpens focus on cadence, lyric and the ballast of melody over muscle.

Tonally, the arrangement leans into wood and air. Chords are voiced to sustain resonance and space, creating a bed for Liljestam’s controlled intensity. Her phrasing moves from near-whispered resolve to cutting clarity, while Ekberg’s harmonies add steel to the spine without overfilling the spectrum. The dynamic arc favors patient escalation, building gravity in increments rather than in bursts, a choice that underlines the song’s theme of collective reckoning.

Lyrics and Themes

All Shall Burn reads as a reckoning with deceit and moral collapse, an appeal to solidarity when institutions fail. Lines such as “Stand with us, ignore the spineless lies” and “Shall I reveal your crimes?” carry a plainspoken defiance that pairs naturally with a stripped-back setting. Pride, rot and consequence recur as motifs, suggesting an ethical tribunal enacted not by a singular hero but by a community that refuses to be “deprived.”

In its acoustic form, the text’s imagery lands with added immediacy. Without walls of sound, phrases like “Through their falling screams I hear them begging us” draw listeners into a close-miked confession, more witness stand than battle cry. The chorus refrain, “All shall burn,” becomes less a pyrotechnic slogan and more a final verdict, the quiet before judgment rather than the roar of impact.

The Video: Performance at Close Range

The official video was produced, directed and filmed by Rikard Ekberg and Madeleine Liljestam, with editing by Ekberg. The band’s in-house approach favors uncluttered storytelling anchored in performance. With no narrative detours, attention centers on touch, breath and interplay, mirroring the song’s deliberate austerity. It is an aesthetic throughline consistent with the EP’s title: an acoustic document that keeps the heat while removing the armor.

Sound and Production

Thomas “Plec” Johansson handled recording, mixing and mastering at The Panic Room, balancing intimacy with impact. The production preserves transient detail—the slip of fingers on strings, the decay of a chord—while maintaining a firm low-end foundation. Vocals sit forward but never severed from the room, an approach that emphasizes presence without sacrificing atmosphere. It is a clear, modern acoustic mix that still nods to the band’s heavier DNA in its sense of weight and inevitability.

Acoustic In Hell and the Road Ahead

All Shall Burn (Acoustic) arrives as both a standalone statement and a doorway into Acoustic In Hell. It captures ELEINE in high relief, testing their material against sparer tools and emerging with something colder, clearer and, in its own way, heavier.
