“The Queen’s Last Letter” is inspired by the true story of Ankhesenamun, the widow of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, who, in a desperate act of survival, wrote to a foreign enemy—the king of the Hittites—begging for one of his sons to marry her and become Pharaoh of Egypt. This unprecedented plea led to a tragic outcome: the prince sent to her was murdered before reaching Egypt, and Ankhesenamun vanished from history soon after.
