Elina Siirala

Elina Siirala, born 27 October 1983, is a Finnish soprano and vocal coach. She is known as the founder and front woman for the English melodic metal band Angel Nation and the current female vocalist for the German symphonic metal/viking metal band Leaves’ Eyes. Elina is the second cousin of Tuomas Holopainen, founder and keyboardist of Nightwish.

Elina’s musical background includes formal vocal training, and she has often emphasized healthy vocal technique and versatility, blending melodic metal singing with influences from pop, rock, and symphonic metal. Before joining an internationally established band, she founded Angel Nation (originally EnkElination) in 2011, serving as its lead vocalist, lyricist, and creative driving force. With Angel Nation, she released albums such as Tears of Lust (2014), Aeon (2016), and Rapture (2019), which combined modern metal with melodic hooks, electronic elements, and introspective lyrical themes.

In 2020, Elina Siirala joined Leaves’ Eyes, replacing longtime vocalist Liv Kristine. Her addition marked a new chapter for the band, introducing a stronger heavy metal and epic vocal approach while maintaining the group’s signature blend of symphonic metal, Viking themes, and mythological storytelling. She made her recorded debut with Leaves’ Eyes on the album The Last Viking (2020), followed by Myths of Fate (2024), both of which showcased her commanding vocal presence and ability to carry grand, narrative-driven compositions.

Elina quickly proved herself as a compelling live performer, touring extensively across Europe and beyond. Her performance style is often described as confident, energetic, and emotionally engaging, helping solidify her place as a respected frontwoman within the symphonic and heavy metal community.

In addition to her work as a performer, Elina is also active as a vocal coach, sharing her knowledge of technique, performance, and vocal health with aspiring singers. This educational side of her career reflects her long-term commitment to artistic sustainability and musicianship.

Today, Elina Siirala is regarded as a modern representative of female-fronted metal, balancing melodic accessibility with metal power, and continuing to evolve as both an artist and vocalist within one of Europe’s most enduring symphonic metal acts.
