Juan Luis Londoño Arias (born January 28, 1994), known professionally as Maluma, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, and actor signed to Sony Music Colombia, Sony Latin, and Fox Music. Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, Maluma developed an early passion for music while also being deeply involved in sports, particularly football. His stage name is a combination of the first syllables of the names of his mother (Marlli), father (Luis), and sister (Manuela), reflecting his close family ties.

Maluma began writing and recording music as a teenager, releasing his debut album Magia in 2012 at the age of 18. The album introduced him to the Latin urban scene, with singles like “Farandulera” gaining traction in Colombia. However, it was his second studio album, Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy (2015), that marked his international breakthrough. The record showcased his signature dual persona—romantic and edgy—and produced major hits such as “Borró Cassette,” “El Perdedor,” and “Carnaval,” establishing him as a leading figure in modern reggaeton and Latin pop.

In 2018, Maluma released F.A.M.E., an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and featured high-profile collaborations with artists such as Shakira, Madonna, Jason Derulo, and Ricky Martin. The album demonstrated his growing versatility, blending reggaeton with pop, trap, and urban influences. He continued his commercial momentum with 11:11 (2019), which further solidified his global appeal and included chart-topping singles like “HP” and “11 PM.”

Beyond music, Maluma has expanded his career into acting and fashion, becoming a frequent presence at international events and collaborating with major global brands. Known for his charismatic image, melodic hooks, and crossover success, Maluma has played a significant role in bringing contemporary Latin urban music to a worldwide audience. Today, he stands as one of the most influential Colombian artists of his generation, consistently bridging Latin and global pop markets.
